Gaku Okata - Artist

Gaku Okata is a multidisciplinary artist mainly focused on painting who lives in Oulu, Finland

Okata's practice focuses on his mental state, attentiveness to the place, and relationship with other beings.​

After working in Japan as a freelance artist for 5 years, he moved to Germany and then to Finland.

His experience of moving from place to place led him to realise the uniqueness of every place he visited.

The place has its own ambience, and it makes him reveal himself differently. Fascinated, he has been researching ​

Since he moved to Oulu, he has been making artworks and conducting workshops about the fish-human relationship and multi-species art making.
