This exhibition aims to blur the boundaries between strong identities of “humanness and fishness”.

When mentioning the word “fish” most people think of food. This is curious to me, since I have been fascinated by aquatic biology for most of my life. In Oulu people and fish live alongside often without paying attention to that fact. Since moving to Oulu I have become interested to multispiecies relationships and especially those of human and fish. With this exhibition I’d like to explore the extend of multilayered news to which this relationship can go and I’d like to invite exhibition visitors to step into some else’s fins.

The aim of this project is to help people take their minds off their anxieties by doodling on the same screen as others and to facilitate non-verbal communication with others. The two rules I always set for these doodling projects are that participants must draw over other people’s doodles and that they do not have to show their own doodles to others. The former is because we are not creating ‘artworks’ but simply doodling; the latter is because these doodles are for one’s own enjoyment and are not meant to be judged or critiqued.
